Design of civil engineering works

All above-ground LPG tanks are required to be positioned on a structural work made of incombustible materials (reinforced concrete).
The ground must be flat, horizontal, not subject to flooding and absent of any vegetation in the prescribed safety area.
On land that is slightly subject to flooding, the tank must be attached to the structural work. The foundations of the structural work for “mid-sized and large bulk” tanks must be performed by a specialist.
A soil survey must be done in order to determine the dimensions of cast-in concrete spread footings, according to soil loading and resistance.
Seismic events, if they exist, must be taken into account.
For underground tanks, refer to trench design and the criteria to be complied with in the “civil engineering works” file.
