Gas specific trenches comply with the specifications provided here below: For trenches under private property: minimum depth of 0.06 m
For trenches under public thoroughfares: minimum depth of 0.90 m
Prior to excavating the trench, authorisation must be obtained from the competent authorities.
All trench excavation floors are covered by 10 cm of river or quarry sand on top of which the pipe lines are lain.
Once the pipe lines are lain, they are covered with 20 cm of river or quarry sand. Additional fill consists of “pit run”.
Before the trench is completely filled, yellow plastic screening is placed 30 cm below ground level.
Gas pipe lines that pass under a road are protected by a pipe sleeve to avoid their being crushed or deformed (see next diagram).
