Can only be used for buried pipe lines if the tube appears above ground, the visible section must be protected by a pipe sleeve (protection against ultraviolet radiation) It is highly chemical resistant, ductile, shock resistant, lightweight and less expensive than copper or steel.

Use of HDPE is prohibited:
for above ground pipe lines for ventilation spaces
for passage under vehicle thoroughfares
For passage under vehicle thoroughfares, they must be protected by reinforced concrete or steel pipe sleeves.
